Jasper — Yakima River Canyon — The Catalyst
This freeform teardrop cabochon was cut to follow the stone's natural character. It has a dark green base with lighter green and grey mottling. The surface shows a high polish. We don't hide natural pits or asymmetrical edges. This is the honest stone. Before Yakima, we had combed almost every river and highway cliff in Northeastern Washington. We were coming up empty. The turning point came from the locals. They pointed us toward the ancient, 15-million-year-old Yakima River Canyon. We wanted the jasper.Every piece in the Chert Road Detour — Yakima River Jasper Collection came out of that water. Each stone tells a story of survival, rescued from a drought-stricken river.— Bob & Janyce, Rockhound Studio, Spokane Valley WAThis freeform teardrop jasper cabochon measures approximately 25 x 15 x 8 mm. It features a high polish finish. This piece is set with a silver-tone pinch bail on a black cord, ready to wear.Chert Road Detour — Yakima River Jasper StoryChert Road Detour — Yakima River Jasper Collection
