Our Story

Two Rockhounds. One Polishing Wheel. Thirty-Four Years of Road.

Bob at the Frankenstein Cabber — tattooed hands, locked inJanyce at the Frankenstein Cabber — red ear muffs, focused

My name is Bob. My partner is Janyce. We have been rockhounding together for 34 years — through desert washes, river canyons, volcanic fields, and mountain passes from Washington State to the Oregon coast and beyond.

We are not a factory. We are not a warehouse. We are two people with a Tucson, a Frankenstein lapidary machine built from salvaged parts, and a deep love for the stones the earth leaves behind for anyone willing to look down.

What We Make

We cut freeform art. One of a kind, never repeated. No two are the same because no two stones are the same. We don't chase trends. We don't chase shapes. We let the stone speak to us and tell us what it wants to be — and we stop when it's right.

We also accept your stone and make a piece of art for you. See the link below for details.

We do special orders too.

The Shop

Our shop is in Spokane Valley, Washington. It smells like Dawn dish soap and Pacific Northwest stone dust. We run organic — Dawn and water as coolant, no cutting oil. The Frankenstein Cabber runs on salvaged motors from the 1960s and stubbornness. Janyce runs the wheels as often as Bob does. This is equal partnership, always.

We rescue animals. We feed squirrels — eight generations of Chipper's family living in the woodpile.

We brought Sox the Manx home from a motel parking lot in Idaho on a rockhounding trip. We are exactly who you think we are.

Why We Sell

We sell to make room for more rocks. And honestly, it's our retirement. Every stone you adopt funds the next road trip, the next tank of gas, the next canyon we have never been down before. You are not buying a product. You are getting a true story and a one of a kind piece of art — and sending us back out on the road.

Thank you for being here.
