This unique heart-shaped thunder agate necklace tells the story of Bob's early lapidary journey - his first attempt at creating a heart-shaped stone (around his 25th piece overall). Hand-cut and shaped from a raw thunder egg purchased at Irv's Rock & Jewelry (Bob's local hobby shop just two miles down the road), this beginner project took on a life of its own! The shape and size got a bit out of control, resulting in a wide, short heart with character. The 29.5mm x 25mm heart features translucent medium grey agate with a pink spot and darker pink center perfectly positioned on one lobe. Bob cleverly used freeform silver-plated wire wrap to hide the cleft and turn this learning experience into a beautiful finished piece. Hung on an 18" snake chain, this ready-to-wear necklace proves that even "imperfect" stones can become wearable art.

THE BEGINNER'S STORY:
Every craftsman has a learning curve, and this heart is proof of Bob's journey. As his first heart-shaped stone (around his 25th piece overall), Bob started with a raw thunder egg from Irv's Rock & Jewelry and a vision of creating a perfect heart. But as any beginner knows, things don't always go according to plan! The shape and size got a bit out of control during cutting and shaping, resulting in a wider, shorter heart than intended. But when the stone was finished, a beautiful surprise emerged: a pink spot with a darker pink center positioned perfectly on one lobe of the heart, creating a natural "heart within a heart." Bob then used his wire-wrapping skills to cleverly hide the cleft with freeform silver-plated wire, turning a beginner's challenge into a beautiful design element. This piece proves that even "imperfect" stones have character and beauty.

WHAT MAKES THUNDER AGATE SPECIAL:
Thunder agates (also called thunder eggs) are volcanic nodules that form in gas pockets within lava flows. When cut open, they reveal stunning agate patterns inside. This particular specimen features a waterline pattern with translucent grey coloring and that magical pink heart spot. The translucency allows light to pass through, creating a glowing effect when worn.

Thunder agate is durable (6.5-7 hardness). Clean gently with soft cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals. Remove before swimming or showering to protect the silver-plated wire wrap and chain.
